RECEPTION AT THE PRESIDENTIAL PALACE

Just before the official start of the 27. Tafisa World Congress Mr. Borut Pahor, the President of the Republic of Slovenia and the President of the TAFISA Honorary Committee gave the reception to the TAFISA Board of Directors and the heads of both organizers of the Congress. On this occasion, the highest TAFISA awards – Jürgen Palm Awards – were presented to individuals, who have made significant and long-term contributions in the field of international sports for all and physical activities. Prizes were awarded to the following recipients: Mr. Victor Pataco (President of the Portuguese Institute for Sport and Youth), Prof. Dr. Ju-Ho CHANG (TAFISA President) and Mr. Borut Pahor (the President of the Republic of Slovenia). TAFISA is awarding Mr. Vitor Pataco for his strong and fervent advocate for Sport for All and physical activity over the years. His constant support to the global Sport for All Movement and leadership in many programmes and events is bringing physical activity to people in Portugal and internationally. The second recipient, Prof. Juho Chang, current TAFISA President, has been an established figure in the Global Sport for All Movement for the last few decades. His career spanning over 50 years depicts a life dedicated to Sport for All. With his active role as the president of Korean and International sport organizations he impressed as a true leader and inspiration to all in the global Sport for All Movement. The third recipient, Mr. Borut Pahor has many accomplishments to his name. He is a sportsman and a strong believer in the power of sport to make a change. His honorary patronage to the 27th TAFISA World Congress in Slovenia exemplifies his important contribution to Sport for All in Slovenia and to the global Sport for All Movement at large. During his Presidency, Slovenia has become the first country in Europe to have a national public holiday dedicated to sport, a testament to Slovenia’s position as a Sport for All leader and a role model for other countries on the continent. Awards were given from Ms. Catherine Forde, TAFISA Vice-President, Mr. Wolfgang Baumann, TAFISA Secretary General and Mr. Janez Sodržnik, Board member.
